Hair-tastrophes

Ok, so I've felt a bit un-inspired lately (probably due to my stress level), so I decided to do a Hair Chronology for you of me over the years.

2001 - The year Binderclips and I started dating. I hated my hair at this length. A stylist messed my hair up, so it had to be chopped off. Grrrrr
2003 - I think. It defintely looks better than the previous picture.
2004 - This is the natural state of my hair, it's VERY curly. Also, this is close to my natural color.
2005/2006 - I think. Hopefully you picked up on the fact that there's a blower blowing my hair up like that. I figured I'd explain, so you didn't think I was having a "There's Something About Mary" Moment.
2010 - In Vegas. Blonder than I've ever been. What can I say? I have gray hair coming in and the blond hides it best!
Dec 2010 - A little darker, actually how I prefer it.

What do you guys think? What color do you like best? I recently just went slightly darker than the very last picture in preparation for our cruise. We leave tomorrow for the Bahamas....which, is a much needed vacation! I'll post a picture when I get back. In fact, I'll post several pictures from the cruise.

I hope you're all doing well! Have a great weekend!

Later gators!

Damn! That's a Nice Dam

As I've been promising for a while now, here are the pictures from our tour of the Hoover Dam! I believe at the end of the pictures you will be saying "Damn! That's a nice dam!" So, prepare yourselves for it folks!

Picture from the helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, we got to fly over the Dam on our way in.

Another helicopter view, however this time it includes the new bridge  - the Colorado River Bridge. The bridge officially opened on 10/19/2010 - so shortly after we left the Vegas area.

These are the 4 intake towers that draw in water from the river to create energy. The 2 intake towers in the back of the picture are located in Nevada and the 2 in the front are located in Arizona.

Power plant what!? Yep, this is the power plant IN the Hoover Dam.  There are 6-7 generators that generate energy based on the flow into the intake towers.

Colorado Bridge view from on top of the Hoover Dam.
Want to know what I'm doing in the below picture*? Come back in a couple of days, I have plenty more pictures where this photo came from! ;)

Later gators!!

*BTW, I do know that this is a TERRIBLE picture of me...but, I also know that you all will appreciate it. I do this stuff only for you folks. ;)

Halloween What?

Hello out there in blog world! So, what's going on with you guys? It seems like I'm forgetting something....oh that's right! I almost forgot that Halloween is just around the corner. Geesh! Thank goodness I have an idea for coming up with a costume in a pinch. You must hear about it!

First, a reminder that, I can be pretty... but, only when I want to be (well, when I'm having a good hair day - naturally curly hair makes for lots of bad hair days, by pure luck my hair looks ok today). Ok, so I was saying...

Mmmmmm, look a chocolate muffin!

What's this? Oh a chocolate chip*! Hey, I have an idea...

...if I put it on my tooth like so, maybe it will look like....
...I have a missing tooth.** HA! Success! And I'm soo scary that Turner can't bare to look at me anymore. Hmmmm, what else could I add to this to make it a full costume?

How about a scarf from the closet, an eye patch (doesn't everyone have an extra eyepatch laying around??), and a hook made out of foil?? Now all I need is pirate talk!
Only a nancy-pants can be keelhaulin' on the treasure chest.
I shall hornswaggle that reef monkey with my anchor. By the foul bowels of Davy Jones! Arrrrrrggggghhhh!***

In addition, all I have to do is put on the a white button up shirt (I'm thinking tuxedo style) and some tight, black capri pants, funky tights, well and some jewelry and WALA!! Now, if you find yourself in a pinch you can come up with a costume and everyone loves pirate costumes (and if they don't, they should)!! (Plus, you have an excuse to talk like a pirate the entire night!)

Happy Halloweening everyone!!

Some Halloween Facts:
-Ancient Celts thought that ghosts/spirits wandered the streets on Hallows Eve, because they didn't want to get recognized as human by them, they would wear masks/costumes.
-Halloween is the second most commercially successful holiday, Christmas is the first.

*Any dark foods can be used, i.e. fudge, chocolate cake, etc. They also sell black wax just for this purpose, however I find that food is much more fun - and tasty!

**For Binderclips' sake I feel it should be noted that he hates this post, specifically the pictures of me with the chocolate chip on my tooth. He told me "you're pretty and I don't like seeing pictures of you like that" - which, is actually kind of sweet. That's why I posted a picture of me beforehand - for his sake, just an FYI.

***The pirate quotes above are randomly generated from this site, which I linked to in another post referring to gangsta talk. Check it out!

Conversations with a Llama

This is me and my llama friend "Larry". Don't we look good? Actually, I think that Larry the Llama was having a better hair day than I was - now that I'm looking at the pictures. Grrrrrrr

After hanging out for a bit, just looking cool (as evidenced by the picture above). It was at this point that Larry the Llama decided to tell me a secret.

HulaBuns: What? What's that you say Larry the Llama?

Larry the Llama: "I'm so glad you are not wearing a wool sweater" he says in a French accent. But it sounds like "Imsoovladyoooarrrvnotvwearingavwoolsveatair."

HulaBuns: *blushing* (It's hard not to blush when you are being spoken to in a French accent) "Oh, Llama. I would never wear wool in front of you." Put off by the French accent I ask "Are you from France?"

Larry the Llama: "You look fabulous. Has anyone told you that today?" he says, again in French accent, eyeing Binderclips as if he's done something wrong. Then responds with "But of course I am from France. Well, the Canadian France. So Canada actually." But is sounds like "ButfcourseImfrooomfrancious. WellvecanAdiennefrancious. SocanAdianneaktoooalleeee."

HulaBuns: "Oh, you silly Llama"  I say again, blushing.

Larry the Llama: "May I lick your face?" he says but it sounds like "MayIvleeekurrrfaaaas?"

HulaBuns: Ummm. No. And I'm watching you Larry the Llama, so don't even try it. And just so you know we don't do that kind of thing in these parts. Face licking is only preferred by a select few and I am not one of those who likes that sort of thing. Unless, I have sugar on my face, but that's a whole nother story.

Unfortunately, for Larry the Llama, I had to leave shortly after. However, I couldn't resist sharing the pictures and story (ummm, of course I didn't make any of it up) with you all. I hope you like it!

Have a great day everyone! Later gators!

Some llama facts: Llamas are the one of the oldest domesticated animals of the world. They have deer-like poop and usually have a communal area where the herd poops. Removal of wool is not harmful to the llamas if done properly.

Imma Be

Hi Everyone! TGIF folks! You know what I'm sayin? I'm soo glad it's Friday and unless you're crazy (or have to work over the weekend) you should be too!

Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking about my life. Which, I feel like must be in the air because one of my fellow bloggers recently had a post in which she was very introspective also. She is really talented, so I would recommend visiting her blog when you get a chance. (Yeah, I totally put 2 links to her blog in one sentence. So, what are you going to do about it? Huh?)

Anyways, I, myself, have been very introspective lately as well. The one thought that my mind keeps settling on is that I'm too nice. This may be a strange concept to some as I have not always been this way. In fact, in my early years I was really selfish. I remember being one of those types that used to wait for others to stop talking so I could talk about myself, not listening really to what they were saying at all along the way. I remember not valuing people and my relationships with them as much as I should have. I also remember feeling alone a lot (most likely because of my own actions and lack of real effort with others). The other thing I remember is that I wasn't happy. I had some very serious situations at home that I was dealing with that, now that I look back on them, realize that they contributed to me being emotionally non-existent/shutdown for a large portion of my youth. So, in short, if you were one of the people that experienced me this way, let me just say, I'm sorry to you. Looking back I realize how lucky I was to even have any of my friends and family around me (and putting up with me) during that time.

While I feel very different now than I did when I was younger, I still feel I have a lot of room for improvement (don't we all?). I also am extremely thankful for every experience I went through as I feel without such experiences I wouldn't have realized how much potential I had (and still have) to change for the better.

Any who, I digress....so, back to my original reason for this post: I'm too nice and feel like I get taken advantage of because of it sometimes. I've decided that I need to be a little more assertive. However, this is going to be really hard for me. In my adulthood I've developed an easygoingness that results in me doing things that sometimes I would not prefer doing just because I don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers. Don't get me wrong, most of the time I really have no issues with doing what others want to, but on rare occasion I do and, from here on out - I'm going to try to speak up about it when such an occasion arises. Or in other words, "I'mma Be" more assertive (you can imagine me dancing to that song at this point because I have a home office and I actually may be dancing).

Also, I have included a picture from Binderclips' and my wedding reception below to help you in imagining me dancing (you may be asking yourself if the picture was necessary and after you see it, I'm certain you will agree that it was). I believe I was dancing to thriller at this point, but you get the idea. Oh, and yeah I'm not going to provide any other explanation for this picture -I'll leave that up to your imagination. All I'm going to say is we have A LOT of pictures equally as entertaining as this one from our reception. Good times folks! Good times! Have a great weekend everyone.
