It's a Beautiful Day - NOT

Do you guys have a song that's your designated pick-me-up song? No matter what it cheers you up and brings a smile to your face?

My usual pick-me-up song is U2's A Beautiful Day. However, sadly today it isn't working. :(

Now, this doesn't happen too often, but today I'm downright grumpy. Therefore, hump day today = grump day for me. Ahhh well, at least it's almost over.

Because I'm having a grumpy day I've been doing a lot of thinking, you know how that goes. And after realizing I had a really bad attitude early in the day I decided to remind myself of one of the Rules for Being Human from the book "Life is a Game":

You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called life. Each day you will be presented opportunities to learn what you need to know. The lessons presented are often completely different from those you THINK you need.

I actually reminded myself of all the rules, but this is the one that spoke the loudest to me today, so - I thought I'd share it with you. I hope it gets you thinking like it got me thinking. What lessons do you think you are meant to learn, do you think they differ from what lessons are being taught to you?

I do. Now I just need to figure out what they are. Wish me luck!

Also, I'd love to hear what your pick-me-up songs are, so please share.

Later Gators!!

  3. TB: Thanks! I like that song too, but I'll have to give it a try. Maybe tomorrow if I'm feeling the same way. :)

Cloudia: I think you hit the nail on the head with that one. My energy definitely needs a rest. Thanks for the words of encouragement. :)

  4. Something must be in the air. I am experiencing a bit of existential angst today. Let me know if you figure out the meaning of life.

  5. It is SUCH a pity the painting is on a red wall. It reduces it by pushing the other colours ? back. Was it on any other background that painting would devour you.

It's sort of weird mix of Picasso and Kahlo.
But god help Binderclips if it is representative of your mood.
You should climb a mountain. Take a weekend.
Hmm, Is there any mountains near you, a drive type near you. It's pretty flat there, isn't it.

  6. Missed Periods: I will. Make sure to do the same for me if you figure it out before me. :)

Vince: That picture is from the hotel we stayed in while in Las Vegas. They had crazy colors all over the place. Seemed like whomever decorated had ADD or something. lol

That's a good way to describe the painting (a mix between Picasso and Kahlo) and thank goodness, it was not representative of my mood. My best friend is coming to visit tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to that. It is flat here but I'l try to get out and do something with her!

  7. I think I need to learn about security and confidence. I wish I'd hurry up and get the hang of those things! My pick up songs are Cry To Me by Solomon Burke. I can't hear it and not sing along.

  8. My song is "Whatcha Waiting For" by Gwen Stefani. It just makes me want to pick myself up by my own ass (that would be funny to watch in and of itself) and get going. - G

  9. Ha ha, I was out with the hound and about a mile from home when the ADD from your response dawned on me.

And why have you got me putting in inane verification words while you are vetting the comments anyway.:-)

  10. I love that song! It's on my iPod. Of course, my favorite song is Roll to Me by Del Amitri. It ALWAYS lifts my spirits.

As for the life lessons I need to learn? It's that I shouldn't judge. 'Cause it just bites me in the ass if I do.

Georgina Dollface: I love that song! Thanks for sharing. :)

Vince: LOL! Glad my comments can taunt you even when you are away from your computer. ;) Good point about the word verification, I'll turn it off.

Kathryn: Thanks for sharing! I need to listen to that song, I haven't heard it in soo long. :)

A man called valance: That's a great song, it certainly does put things into perspective. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, I really appreciate it and will be sure to check your blog out as well!

  13. I hope by now you are off that couch and breathing fresh air,,
I actually have many songs that I love that make me happy, --but one thing that will always lift my spirit is I will play a video or youtube on the Carmen Amaya, her fire, grit, electricity, passion and “duende” (soul) of the Gypsy Flamenco is contagious.
